Some Progress Today

I didn't do anything with my Dino's quilt today because I've ordered some long-arm rulers to do scallops in their bodies. Ordered several others to help me get the hang of this machine that I've had for years and haven't really done anything but computerized designs. I want get better so I need to practice and I've found I like using the rulers. So, I haven't to wait a week to get them.  I put a list of what I'm working on in the outer column so that I can try to focus. The first four are "MUST-DO's." If I do anything to move them forward, I'll post here.  I did do a bit of applique. This is "Chick Jubilee" from Bunny Hills Design. It was a BOM and I hadn't touched Block 1 yet. Dug that out to get it going and grab it when the mood strikes me. It's not a priority, but it's fun to work on. Here's my Dear Jane blocks. They were taking up space on one of my design walls, so I collected them and cli...

WIP - Wednesday

Here's what I started this morning. I'm following Anina's instructions at That Quilt  and this is how far I've gotten. I've chosen B-9 Tinker Toy for the first of my two blocks for the week. Been doing a ton of re-organizing since I bought those bins. I'm going to try to get some photos or maybe a video when it's clean, neat and tidy!! We'll see how long that takes!!  Appliqueing a thread on two every so often on my Dino's as the day progresses. Trying NOT to get too side-tracked today. LOL I'm linking up with Freshly Pieced WIP - Wednesdays !!

Little Bit of This and That

Well, I'm really trying to get my Dear Jane quilt back on track. Just two each week shouldn't be that difficult, right? B10 - Jud's Trophy C-10 - Patriot's Lantern Worked on my Dino for the valance and the bean bags, too.

Which Do You Like Better?

As usual, I'm waffling about which fabric to use, what do you think? I bought this pattern, Oakland Bay Sampler by Holly Bullock, from a quilt shop that has since gone out of business due to owner illness. It's a sampler quilt and one of the first quilts I'd tried to choose colors on my own. They just aren't so great so I've let it sit for awhile (read:very long while) in hopes I could one day decide. I'm still color challenged :(  Anyway, this is a king size quilt for my bed and I thought it was about time I finish it. Not sure if you can see it (remember, I'm still in need of a photography lesson), but there's a really soft pink in the two blocks to the right and the darker pink on the left. These are the only three of the 16 I need to do, so do I rip out one block or two blocks? Keep in mind that the 16 blocks are going to be sashed with either the light or the dark pink, so do you think the darker pink would make a better sashing or the l...

WIP Wednesdays

I'm linking up with WIP Wednesdays with Freshly Pieced  with my Dear Jane block for this week. It's the A-9 block, Cabin Fever and it's in purple. I'm really trying hard to get at least one block done a week. I think I will even start trimming and sashing them as I go so the job won't be so daunting at the end.  More later tonight. It's snowing and I feel like I should just sew all day, but I've stripped one bedroom and will try to clean it. Then checking out the Internet and watching TV might steal many moments of my time. My bad.

Friday Check In

Well, I've gotten a bunch done on my projects and thought it was time to share. I've finished the next step in the mitts. I cut the patterns and sewed them and turned them so all I have to do is add the binding (which is cut and pressed!). Hopefully, they will be done very soon and I can check off that project! I worked some more on burying the threads in my Stop Sign wall hanging. Need to cut the binding and sew it on and a sleeve to hang it and that will be done! Yippee. Also, got the fabrics identified on my Baltimore Autumn applique quilt. I'm doing a BOM with an applique Yahoo group and we are on Block 2 - Horn of Plenty. Lovely batiks for the cornucopia and I purchased the kit/pattern from Amidon Quiltworks . It's a Pearl P. Pereira design. It's a beautiful project. I love Pearl's patterns and I'm also doing her Baltimore Christmas, Baltimore Halloween and Baltimore Liberty patterns. I made a bunch of Step 4 of Easy Street  - Bonnie Hunter...

Project Progress - Yippee!

I was able to get a bunch of projects moved forward today. I was able to sew quite a bit today (Saturday). My February goals are: 1. Pot Holders/Mitts - I cut the fabric for them (TODAY), just have to quilt it and then cut them. 2. Dino's - Cut valances for two windows (TODAY). Each are two fabrics and one appliqued Dino per window. I will go back to the quilt next. 3. Dear Jane - Almost finished two blocks, should finish tomorrow, will post pics then. 4. Baltimore Autumn - I didn't finish Block 1, so I'll probably tackle it again in February. 5. Baltimore Christmas - Didn't finish Block 1, might continue or move on to Block 2. I think Block 1 is the hardest of all of them. 6. Baltimore Halloween - Block 2 here I come!!! 7. Baltimore Liberty - None much was done in January. :( 8. Vintage Valentine - About halfway on this one - Block 1. 9. Country Cottages - Little embroidery left, then will move to Block 2. 10. Nursery stuff - Started a pillow awhile ago, p...

2013 NewFO Challenge

Today is the last day you can post a comment for the giveaway  for the  " Grow Your Blog " party, so please click through to this  post  and say "Hi!"  I will announce the winner tomorrow I am linking up the the 2013 NewFo Challenge from Cat Patches! So, here's what's been going on with me in January.  Started and finished the top for the  Sweetheart Mystery .   Started and finished a wall hanging for the  " Project Quilting " at Persimon Dreams , which I'm probably not going to do again.  I have too much on my plate to stop and do something start-finish in one month. :( Finished Baltimore Halloween, all but the eyes, spider eyes and legs and the owl's feet.  Sewed some Dear Jane blocks.  Did three steps of Easy Street (at least some of the three steps).  Finished my pot holder and mitt. I have three more sets to do.  Finished t...

More Projects

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I did some sewing over the weekend and worked on some new projects.  I finished this Dear Jane block B-8 Water Lily. I'm really working hard on getting two blocks done each week.  I'm also working on this Sweetheart Mystery  today, but I didn't get many steps finished. I opted to do the HSTs first, so all I have left is the bigger pieces.  Not really a mystery now, but it is easy and fun.  This is the Sunbonnet Sleuth Mystery that is more modern and they are really growing on my, quick and easy and 'clean' looking.  Still trying to organize my studio. Installed more bins and need to decide some furniture issues and straighten and I'll get more pics for you.  Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please hel...

FNSI Results

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I didn't get much finished. :( One more Dear Jane block, Block B-6 Wild Goose Chase. One of my points isn't quite right, but in the overall scheme of things, when it's in the quilt, not sure I'll notice. Letting this one go. I did B-8, but I did it in the same fabric, so I need to re-do it. So careless. Sigh. I do like trying to get two blocks done in a week, but sometimes it's hard to fit them in. More soon. Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

WIP Wednesday and Studio Pics

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  Linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced. So, here's what I've been working on: Another Dino is ready, sort of, I need to rough cut the head and add some spots on his back, but I'm already ready to stitch him down. I used the freezer paper on the top as it's big and it's just easier to stitch.  I did some cleaning yesterday and today, not that I didn't also sew, but I thought I'd show you what I've done and see what you think. I haven't gotten it just right yet, but this is what I'm trying to do. All my walls are half-walls and are slanted. I wanted to line them with tops (quilted or not) to help make it seem more like a studio, so I put up those magnetic bars that I use on my HQ16 for floating tops. I got them from Harbor Freight . ...

Projects - Updates

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  Thought I would update my January 13 projects (way too ambitious, will need to adjust that soon. LOL Part of a quilt journal is posting regularly about the projects as motivation to complete, right?  1. Tooth Fairy Pillow - Finished.  2. Apron Ties - Finished. 3. Easy Street - Steps 1 & 2 have almost 40 of each, Step 3 has a bunch half sewn.  4. Dear Jane - two more blocks finished,  A-7 and C-6 this week. Take note, they aren't trimmed yet. LOL I've chosen two more for this week, so I should have eight total for the month.  5. Stop Sign - SID in the horizontal seams, just have to outline the letters...need to practice that some more. Ripped a bunch out already. LOL 6. Spot - Not even touched. Not my favorite job, ripping out stitches, ...
