2013 NewFO Challenge

Today is the last day you can post a comment for the giveaway  for the  " Grow Your Blog " party, so please click through to this  post  and say "Hi!"  I will announce the winner tomorrow I am linking up the the 2013 NewFo Challenge from Cat Patches! So, here's what's been going on with me in January.  Started and finished the top for the  Sweetheart Mystery .   Started and finished a wall hanging for the  " Project Quilting " at Persimon Dreams , which I'm probably not going to do again.  I have too much on my plate to stop and do something start-finish in one month. :( Finished Baltimore Halloween, all but the eyes, spider eyes and legs and the owl's feet.  Sewed some Dear Jane blocks.  Did three steps of Easy Street (at least some of the three steps).  Finished my pot holder and mitt. I have three more sets to do.  Finished the stop sign wall hangi

WIP Wednesdays - Check In

Linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced . I need to sew some more blocks together and then sew the rows and I'll be finished with my Sweetheart Mystery  from Carter Quilter.  I have a lot of other projects I'll share later. Hopefully, I'll have some more steps done on some of my projects. Maybe I'll get out my camera, my iPhone is lacking in the clarity issue. Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

My New Best Friend

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I carelessly sewed up my Sweetheart Mystery top in the wrong order. Ugh! So, this little tool is my new best friend and it was such a snap to rip out seams!! It's the Dual Blade Personal Trimmer ! It won't replace my old best friend, "the seam ripper," but it is the handiest little tool, EVER! Get one and you will see what a dream ripping out a seam can be. I didn't have much time today to sew, but I got at least my 15 minutes in on my Country Cottages . Need to take a photography class. LOL It's nearing the end of the month and I need to reassess my goals for next month.  Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting ex

BOM Rehab

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I found a site that's going to help me keep my BOMs moving forward. It's BOM Rehab by Sinta and have added her link on my sidebar. Meet on Mondays and I'd love to see this little group grow, so if you can, please join us. I did almost finish my Baltimore Halloween except for the eyes, spider eyes/legs and the owl's feet. Here's a pic: More later. Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

More Projects

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I did some sewing over the weekend and worked on some new projects.  I finished this Dear Jane block B-8 Water Lily. I'm really working hard on getting two blocks done each week.  I'm also working on this Sweetheart Mystery  today, but I didn't get many steps finished. I opted to do the HSTs first, so all I have left is the bigger pieces.  Not really a mystery now, but it is easy and fun.  This is the Sunbonnet Sleuth Mystery that is more modern and they are really growing on my, quick and easy and 'clean' looking.  Still trying to organize my studio. Installed more bins and need to decide some furniture issues and straighten and I'll get more pics for you.  Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please hel

FNSI Results

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  I didn't get much finished. :( One more Dear Jane block, Block B-6 Wild Goose Chase. One of my points isn't quite right, but in the overall scheme of things, when it's in the quilt, not sure I'll notice. Letting this one go. I did B-8, but I did it in the same fabric, so I need to re-do it. So careless. Sigh. I do like trying to get two blocks done in a week, but sometimes it's hard to fit them in. More soon. Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

Join me and Heidi ??? I've been organizing and install my bins and such, but plan to sew tonight. I'll share more later if I get anything done. Been looking for my black thread for an hour. Ugh!!! Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this  link  so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

WIP Wednesday and Studio Pics

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  Linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced. So, here's what I've been working on: Another Dino is ready, sort of, I need to rough cut the head and add some spots on his back, but I'm already ready to stitch him down. I used the freezer paper on the top as it's big and it's just easier to stitch.  I did some cleaning yesterday and today, not that I didn't also sew, but I thought I'd show you what I've done and see what you think. I haven't gotten it just right yet, but this is what I'm trying to do. All my walls are half-walls and are slanted. I wanted to line them with tops (quilted or not) to help make it seem more like a studio, so I put up those magnetic bars that I use on my HQ16 for floating tops. I got them from Harbor Freight .

Projects - Updates

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this  post .  Thought I would update my January 13 projects (way too ambitious, will need to adjust that soon. LOL Part of a quilt journal is posting regularly about the projects as motivation to complete, right?  1. Tooth Fairy Pillow - Finished.  2. Apron Ties - Finished. 3. Easy Street - Steps 1 & 2 have almost 40 of each, Step 3 has a bunch half sewn.  4. Dear Jane - two more blocks finished,  A-7 and C-6 this week. Take note, they aren't trimmed yet. LOL I've chosen two more for this week, so I should have eight total for the month.  5. Stop Sign - SID in the horizontal seams, just have to outline the letters...need to practice that some more. Ripped a bunch out already. LOL 6. Spot - Not even touched. Not my favorite job, ripping out stitches, so ignoring i

Pot Holder & Mitt - A Finish

I'm really enjoying visiting all the blogs from the " Grow Your Blog " party and if you've stopped by to enter the giveaway, please click through to this post .  I finished my pot holder and mitt for my granddaughter. I still might take it apart and put a different binding on it, if I have time. I'd chosen this for my " A Lovely Year of Finishes " project so I need to finish it. So, I have three others to do and will put the coordinating fabric on one of those and I can change it before I give them to her. Don't forget that if you need a quick way to access your files from any device, please help me out with opening a Dropbox account and using this link so we can both benefit by getting extra free space.

Grow Your Blog Party

THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER. Next time???? Winner announced here . Welcome to the Grow Your Blog Party that is being hosted by Vicki of 2 Bags Full ! As you can see by the tabs at the top of the page, I became "hooked on quilting" in 2007, but I didn't really complete many quilts...they are still here waiting for their turn! LOL I have found that I'm a process person rather than a product person, which means I just want to cut up fabric, sew it back together in a different manner and I don't really need a finished project, but I plan to turn over a new leaf in 2013 I'm going to dig into all those UFO's and finish them up!  I've also blogged since 2007, but life has gotten in the way over the years so posting has been sporadic, but I am now going to journal about my adventures in quilting. I'd love to share what I've learned about quilting and what I hope to learn and all those quilts that I plan to finish this year!  I've d

Stop Sign Quilting

I went to a demonstration of the Husqvarna Viking interchangeable dual feet foot and bought it for my new Ruby Deluxe machine. I also learned a few things that my machine can do. I'm not much into embroidery at the moment, but I could be swayed. :) I also bought a new Stitch in the Ditch foot to go on this accessory. It seems to move the fabric a little better and I haven't encounter a pucker yet. They had a new clear quilting foot that I bought, as well. I wasn't sure if I should outline the letters first or SID in the pieced seams, so I just did the short seams inside the letters for now to practice a bit. I've decided that I'm not proficient enough on my HQ16 to quilt it there, I need more control. I finished C-6 of my Dear Jane, I'll get a photo tomorrow. I'll start on A-8, too. I did a little more applique on the latest Dino, looks nice. Worked on Baltimore Autumn, Baltimore Christmas and Baltimore Halloween. I was gone most of the day, so

WIP Wednesdays

Decided to join in the Linky party for WIP Wednesdays  at Freshly Pieced since I have so many!!!  I've been steadily working on all 13 projects and a couple I've added...sort of.  So here's what's been happening: 1. Dino's - started a new one today   2. Dear Jane -C-6 Ashley's Aura 3. Stop Sign - I have white fabric at the corners, thinking of removing them altogether. Thoughts? 4. Country Cottages - Not loving my applique, but maybe pressing will help.  5. Pot Holder - decided I hated the binding and the square corners, so I'll use a coordinating fabric and round the corners. 6. Easy Street - I don't have Steps 1 and 2 finished, but decided to try Step 3 for a change of pace. The others aren't far along enough to take photos, maybe next week. :) How are you doing on your projects? Linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.
