Welcome to the Grow Your Blog Party that is being hosted by Vicki of 2 Bags Full!
As you can see by the tabs at the top of the page, I became "hooked on quilting" in 2007, but I didn't really complete many quilts...they are still here waiting for their turn! LOL I have found that I'm a process person rather than a product person, which means I just want to cut up fabric, sew it back together in a different manner and I don't really need a finished project, but I plan to turn over a new leaf in 2013 I'm going to dig into all those UFO's and finish them up!
I've also blogged since 2007, but life has gotten in the way over the years so posting has been sporadic, but I am now going to journal about my adventures in quilting. I'd love to share what I've learned about quilting and what I hope to learn and all those quilts that I plan to finish this year!
I've decided to use this blog as a way to document and to share the process of my projects and, perhaps, blogging will lead to completion of my projects. It turns out that I love to share my baby steps in all my projects and now I hope to blog daily even if I just blog to say that I didn't accomplish anything "quilt-y" that day. It's all about the process for me.
Lots of bloggers are participating and this will be my very first giveaway! I'm giving away two pieces of Timeless Treasures flannel fabric!
It would be wonderful if you'd like to become my follower to help me "grow" my blog, but that's not a requirement. Winner will be announced on February 1, 2013.

I tell people that I am a piecer not a quilter. I love the process especially gathering fabric! My eldest daughter is a quilter who pieces so she can quilt! By the way it won't help with completions but it does help with creating!
ReplyDeleteamazing talent. i've always wanted to learn. need to find the time though. Merry 2013. please enter me into your giveaway. would you please stop by my blog too. have a great weekend. ( :
ReplyDeleteThe fabric looks lovely!!! I am also one who loves the process of planning and starting a project, but I am very bad about the finishing part!!! I have pieces of quilts, crocheted afgans and numerous cross stitched pieces that are all waiting to be made into something!!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I know what you mean about process. Both of my hobbies are all about process. Product often ends up being a happy accident!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri

Thanks for the introduction! I too have a closet of UFO's. My problem is I like to hand quilt but it takes so long I get bored with one project and move on to another before finishing! I look forward to seeing what projects get new life in 2013. I'm following you!
ReplyDeleteI am here from Vickie's 2 Bags Full.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is making me want to get to my pile of UFO's. 13 in one month? That would be glorious if I could be even half that productive.
I think I will pick 4 for this month and try your 15 minute sessions.
I am looking forward to seeing your finished dino quilt. When my son was little, he adored dinos.
Please enter me into your give-away.

Hi Gloria - What a fun blog! I am happy to become a follower. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments. I love to see what other quilters are up to!
ReplyDeleteWish I had more patience for quilting. I started a baby quilt for a friend...I was ambitious for my first quilt...the Friendship Square. It lies in a bag, all cut out. The baby is now 10 years old...oh well!
ReplyDeleteI love and collect fabrics and fibers. Perhaps I will get up the nerve to make something larger than a pillow!
I hope that one day I will learn the art of quilting. You have a lovely blog. I'm a new follower and participant of 'Grow your Blog'. Have fun at the party!
ReplyDeleteEvalina, This and that...
Stopping by on the blog hop! I would love to learn to quilt, but do so many other things now.....it is very tempting though! Thanks for the chance at your giveaway! Please stop by my blog also!

Thanks for the wonderful givewaway!
ReplyDeleteI`m a planner and a dreamer, with way too many ideas in my head, and wip across the whole spectrum of crafting (and art). But this year I vowed I *will* buckle down and actually complete a whole quilt.

Gloria,
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are beautiful! So nice to meet you on the GYB party.
Hi Gloria
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, I see we're doing a few challenges together this year. I'm sure we'll cross paths over the course of finishing our WIPs.
Hi, Ellie-Mae,
DeleteYep!! Of course, I'm pretty sure I over estimated my quickness to complete something. Always looking for inspiration and motivation!
Gloria
Gloria,
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog! You sound like me!!!! I love that, I am a process person too, I realized that years ago when I told someone that I made dolls....and My friend, who actually DID make the dolls I told her bout and got her started making, smiled at me and I said, "What are you smiling about?" and she said, "I was just laughing...." and I made her tell me why...she was hesitant, then she said "You told her you make dolls, and you don't REALLY make dolls, you just collect the stuff to make dolls!" You have to realize this gal is like my sister, so My eyes got really big and my mouth dropped open and I was shocked and she said "I don't mean that unlkindly..." and by then I was laughing so hard, and said "YOU are SO RIGHT! I DO only collect the stuff to make them.....!" So I am glad to be in such good creative company! I have finished one quilt this year...but i didn't make it....just finished it....and paid for it...Maybe that is what we should do, I could finish your start stuff and you could start my unfinished stuff!!!
Hearts to you, I look forward to seeing more of your blog!
Betsy
Hi Gloria
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you at Vicki's party!
I'm just about to start my quilting journey too!
I'm now following your blog and I would love you to come and visit me to enter my giveaway and follow me too.
I'll be back to visit when you post again and then I can have a good look around.
Lovely to meet you'
hugs
Shane ♥
Great to meet you through Vicki's GYB. I know exactly where you are in your quilting. I was the same way a couple of years ago. I started thinking that if anything ever happened to me, my girls would say, "mom did good work but she never finished anything". All my tops are now quilts.
ReplyDeleteCome see me at nonniescedarchest.wordpress.com
Charlsey
I looked Saturday, but didn't leave a message!
ReplyDeletekeep up the good work.
But if you draw my name. please draw another, I'm on a fabric diet!
Isn't flannel fabric so cozy and warm? Love it! Visiting via Vicki's GRB Party and have some giveaways on my blog. If you've time, come for a visit.
ReplyDeletePlease count me in your giveaway! I, too, have many UFO quilts and now I am so mad for cross stitch again (and I cannot say how many cross stitch WIPs I have - too many to count!) but like you - I am much more about the journey than the destination. Although I do get excited when I have a Happy Dance! Thanks for visiting my blog. Isn't the Party fun?
ReplyDeletehugs, kaye
Hello!
ReplyDeleteCount me in for the giveaway!
I'm a new follower.
I wish I had the courage to start quilting... Nice work!
Hi Gloria! It is so nice to meet you and all your lovely quilting projects! Thanks too for popping over to my blog for a visit during this fabulous blog party! I have just become your newest follower and will be back for a proper visit after the blog party finishes. I did browse a smidge I must admit and I know we will have lots to chat about... although I'm involved with crocheting and embroidered jewelry at the moment I cut my crafty teeth on quilting and have lots of quilt projects stored in my trunk awaiting my quilty muses return :D
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Beth P

I would love to join your giveaway. I am a new follower and I am adding you to my reading list so I can keep up with your blog.
Hugs!

Fun place to visit. beautiful colors. And do come to visit my blog, since the party goes on. I have a nice vintage lace book to giveaway. See you there.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you at the party!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog and I love your lovely giveaway...
Cheers!!
Hello Gloria, It is nice to meet you! I have had a look around your lovely blog. You do quilt so beautifully! I made my first quilt a couple years ago, and have yet to "quilt" it. I totally enjoyed the cutting and the stitching of the different patterns, but find the actual hand quilting slow. I do love fabric! Oh yes! There are so many gorgeous fabrics out there!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri

Lovely to meet you Gloria. I've been hooked on quilting for more than 20 years now but I'm downsizing to fabric art collaging and journals and use all types of fabric and laces in my creations.
ReplyDeleteI can see you are a prolific quilter and just love it and also addicted to fabrics.
Come over to see another type of quilt on my blog and join in the Giveaway too.
