Grow Your Blog Party

THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER. Next time????

Winner announced here.

Welcome to the Grow Your Blog Party that is being hosted by Vicki of 2 Bags Full!

As you can see by the tabs at the top of the page, I became "hooked on quilting" in 2007, but I didn't really complete many quilts...they are still here waiting for their turn! LOL I have found that I'm a process person rather than a product person, which means I just want to cut up fabric, sew it back together in a different manner and I don't really need a finished project, but I plan to turn over a new leaf in 2013 I'm going to dig into all those UFO's and finish them up!

I've also blogged since 2007, but life has gotten in the way over the years so posting has been sporadic, but I am now going to journal about my adventures in quilting. I'd love to share what I've learned about quilting and what I hope to learn and all those quilts that I plan to finish this year!

I've decided to use this blog as a way to document and to share the process of my projects and, perhaps, blogging will lead to completion of my projects. It turns out that I love to share my baby steps in all my projects and now I hope to blog daily even if I just blog to say that I didn't accomplish anything "quilt-y" that day. It's all about the process for me.

Lots of bloggers are participating and this will be my very first giveaway! I'm giving away two pieces of Timeless Treasures flannel fabric!

Please leave a comment and I will choose a winner at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Anyone can win, you don't have to have a blog, but I must be able to contact you, so be sure in your comment you leave your email address or a way to contact you should you win. I will ship anywhere.

It would be wonderful if you'd like to become my follower to help me "grow" my blog, but that's not a requirement. Winner will be announced on February 1, 2013.

Time to visit Vicki's blog and "grow" more blogs!!!

If you haven't tried Dropbox for transferring your files and photos from your various devices, check out Dropbox.com. Using this link will entitle both of us to some extra FREE storage space for our photos!!! So easy to post pics on your blog from your smart phone! Slice of Heaven.

  1. I tell people that I am a piecer not a quilter. I love the process especially gathering fabric! My eldest daughter is a quilter who pieces so she can quilt! By the way it won't help with completions but it does help with creating!

  15. Thanks for the introduction! I too have a closet of UFO's. My problem is I like to hand quilt but it takes so long I get bored with one project and move on to another before finishing! I look forward to seeing what projects get new life in 2013. I'm following you!

  16. I am here from Vickie's 2 Bags Full.

Your blog is making me want to get to my pile of UFO's. 13 in one month? That would be glorious if I could be even half that productive.

I think I will pick 4 for this month and try your 15 minute sessions.

I am looking forward to seeing your finished dino quilt. When my son was little, he adored dinos.

Please enter me into your give-away.

  23. Wish I had more patience for quilting. I started a baby quilt for a friend...I was ambitious for my first quilt...the Friendship Square. It lies in a bag, all cut out. The baby is now 10 years old...oh well!

I love and collect fabrics and fibers. Perhaps I will get up the nerve to make something larger than a pillow!

I`m a planner and a dreamer, with way too many ideas in my head, and wip across the whole spectrum of crafting (and art). But this year I vowed I *will* buckle down and actually complete a whole quilt.

  31. Gloria,
Thanks for coming by my blog! You sound like me!!!! I love that, I am a process person too, I realized that years ago when I told someone that I made dolls....and My friend, who actually DID make the dolls I told her bout and got her started making, smiled at me and I said, "What are you smiling about?" and she said, "I was just laughing...." and I made her tell me why...she was hesitant, then she said "You told her you make dolls, and you don't REALLY make dolls, you just collect the stuff to make dolls!" You have to realize this gal is like my sister, so My eyes got really big and my mouth dropped open and I was shocked and she said "I don't mean that unlkindly..." and by then I was laughing so hard, and said "YOU are SO RIGHT! I DO only collect the stuff to make them.....!" So I am glad to be in such good creative company! I have finished one quilt this year...but i didn't make it....just finished it....and paid for it...Maybe that is what we should do, I could finish your start stuff and you could start my unfinished stuff!!!
Hearts to you, I look forward to seeing more of your blog!

  33. Great to meet you through Vicki's GYB. I know exactly where you are in your quilting. I was the same way a couple of years ago. I started thinking that if anything ever happened to me, my girls would say, "mom did good work but she never finished anything". All my tops are now quilts.

  36. Please count me in your giveaway! I, too, have many UFO quilts and now I am so mad for cross stitch again (and I cannot say how many cross stitch WIPs I have - too many to count!) but like you - I am much more about the journey than the destination. Although I do get excited when I have a Happy Dance! Thanks for visiting my blog. Isn't the Party fun?

I have just become your newest follower and will be back for a proper visit after the blog party finishes. I did browse a smidge I must admit and I know we will have lots to chat about... although I'm involved with crocheting and embroidered jewelry at the moment I cut my crafty teeth on quilting and have lots of quilt projects stored in my trunk awaiting my quilty muses return :D

  42. Hello Gloria, It is nice to meet you! I have had a look around your lovely blog. You do quilt so beautifully! I made my first quilt a couple years ago, and have yet to "quilt" it. I totally enjoyed the cutting and the stitching of the different patterns, but find the actual hand quilting slow. I do love fabric! Oh yes! There are so many gorgeous fabrics out there!

  43. Lovely to meet you Gloria. I've been hooked on quilting for more than 20 years now but I'm downsizing to fabric art collaging and journals and use all types of fabric and laces in my creations.
I can see you are a prolific quilter and just love it and also addicted to fabrics.
Come over to see another type of quilt on my blog and join in the Giveaway too.

Online Quilt Festival - Spring 2009

What a great idea to host an online Quilt Festival ! Thanks to Amy @ Park City Girl! Be sure to stop by and add your favorite quilt! Well, I really want to join in this huge event, so I'm hoping that an almost completed quilt will qualify! I've chosen my Hungry Caterpillar quilt as my favorite because it is my best to date and who doesn't want to show their best? Of course, I have a long way to go, but I'm learning with each and every quilt. This quilt's story goes like this...it was a kit! I'm not ready to chose my own fabrics/colors just yet (may never be!). I got the kit and went to work trying to hit the one-year old granddaughter's birthday (missed it, of course). I simply loved its simplicity since it was panels that I just put together, but it was a good ego boost for this quilting novice, not to mention the practice I'd gotten! So, I loaded on my new HQ16 with the ProStitcher and it sat until I found a digital pattern to go with it. Once again, I

Grow Your Blog Party

Welcome to the  Grow Your Blog Party  that is being hosted by Vicki of  2 Bags Full ! Welcome to my blog about how many quilts I've started!!! I sure wish it could be about the ones I've finished!  But then, it's be pretty boring and pretty blank!!!! LOL   I say this every year, I PLAN to finish them all. Planning is easy, executing is difficult.  I really do start way too many quilts, but I had a health scare in 2013, so I'm determined not to leave this mess for my loved ones to clean up and PLAN to finish them all in 2014 (that's a laugh). The tabs at the time share all my started quilts.  Since the demise of Google Reader, I've found a few places that you can "add" me to your list of blogs you visit, they are listed on my right sidebar!  I'd love for you to visit often.  Time to visit  Vicki's blog  and "grow" more blogs!!! p.s. Last year, my giveaway was never claimed...didn't do one this year.
